This fort was one of the prime forts which were included in “Maratha” Empire but don’t have many records but to in records of enemy “Mughals” it has many points to be noted is a sad thing to take in mind. Nijamshah in 1482-83 took over Junnar, Lohgad and the same time Tikona Fort too. Later this Fort went to Adilshah and in year 1647 King Shivaji took it in “Swarajya” Maratha Empire. Later in “Purandar Treaty” 23 Forts including Tikona went to Mughals but again in 1670 Shivaji broke all agreements and took back many forts in Swarajya. Then till King Sambhaji this fort was a major influence to Maratha’s.
