Sahyadris being the mother of the Western Ghats have another beautiful Ghat blossoming within its bosom. Malshej Ghat is a mountain passage in the Thane - Ahmednagar road range. It is huddled inside the majestic rugged hills of the Western Ghats. Malsej is a habitat to a huge number of diverse species of verdant flora and fauna especially the avian inhabitants. It is particularly famous for its considerate population of flamingoes that swoop down here in the months of July, August, and September. Other avian species include peacocks, quails, rails, crakes, and cuckoos. Malsej also has dense jungles which are habitat to tigers, leopards, rabbits, etc. Thus, nature enthusiasts and bird watchers should add Malsej to their bucket list. 

For the outdoor fanatics and the thrill seekers, there are hiking trails in the neighboring hillocks waiting to be traversed by you.  One can visit the nearby village of Khireshwar that is the base village of Harishchandragad trek. If you’re here at Malsej, then you cannot miss out on the birthplace of legendary Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj which is the Shivneri Fort. The surreal Malsej falls, the gorgeous Pimpalgaon dam and Ajoba Hill fort are some of the must-visit attractions here which will hypnotize you.
