About Rasalgad Fort Trek

Rasalgad Fort is a popular weekend destination among trekkers. Rasalgad is located on triangular plateau with fortification on all sides. Two entrance gates are still in good condition. Things to see on Rasalgad Fort, Veer Maruti idol around first gate, ZolayiDevi temple on Fort with stone Deep Mala and Tulsi Vrindavan. One can see 16 cannons on Rasalgad and two large rock cut water cisterns. Fortification is in good condition at Rasalgad Fort. Parvatgad and Chakdev can be seen from Rasalgad. Rasalgad lies at 15 km east of Khed City it has been developed as tourist destination. Rasalgad can be combined with Sumargad and Mahipatgad Trek.Base village Rasalwadi is located at the foothill.

Sumargad

Sumargad is mostly visited by trekkers combined with Mahipatgad and Rasalgad. Sumargad can be trekked from Mahipatgad and From Rasalgad. Located inside deep forest very less is know about this fort. Fort is surrounded by steep cliffs and fort size relatively small with fortification. There are many rock cut water cisterns to see at Sumargad. One can also visit Shivalinga located inside the cave on the fort.  On clear day one see Mahipatgad, Rasalgad, Chakdev and Parvatgad from Sumargad

Mahipatgad

Located near Khed is one of the largest forts of Maharashtra with an area of 120 acres. Sumargad, Rasalgad and Mahipatgad are situated on a same spur 8 km long. Mahipatgad is on the northernmost end of the spur. Beldarwadi village located on the foot hill off Mahipatgad has 10 houses.

Mahipatgad Fort has a table land with six gateways which are in ruined state now and six battlements. Six gateways are called Laldevdi on north eastern side, Pusati on eastern side, Yeshwant on south eastern side, Khed still in use and connects Beldarwadi to Mahipatgad. Shiv Ganga on western side you can see rock cut Shivling near this entrance, Kotwal gateway leads to Kotwal village in Poladpur.You should not miss Remnants of horse stables, Unused mortar, Two large wells. Mahipatgad Fort height 3090 feet.
