Your Itinerary Would Begin From a Pickup Point From Bangalore 

Reaching Bhagamandala Forest Range

Bhagamandala is situated at a distance of around 284 km from Bangalore via NH 48. This forest range is a small place in Kodagu District of Coorg in Karnataka along the river Cauvery bank. On the southern side of the trek is located in the Wayanad district of Kerala State.

From Bangalore, it will take around 8-hours to reach Bhagamandala. After reaching the forest range, trekkers need to take a permit from the forest department. From Bhagamandala, the trekking trail is at a distance of around 7 km accessible via Jeep. On the dirt road, jeep ride will take you to Tala Cauvery, the base of trekking camp.

 

Two-day Itinerary Nishani Motte Coorg Trek

Day Zero:

Picked up from Bangalore at around 10 pm to start your journey towards Nishani Motte trail

Day One:

  • Reaching homestay at the Coorg TalaCauvery forest range and fresh up
  • Start trekking reaching the starting point last by 8:30 am
  • Start trekking by 9 am
  • Enjoy your packed lunch during the expedition
  • Reach the crest
  • Move back to base
  • Drive down to Homestay
  • Enjoy Bangalore style dinner and bonfire, if it doesn't rain

Day Two:

  • Get up to freshen up and have breakfast
  • Reach Talacauvery & explore Bhagmanada
  • Enjoy lunch at your expense
  • Click selfies reaching Irupu falls
  • After Reaching Bangalore by 10:30 pm, head back to your homes.

The peak of Nishani Motte is also known as Nishani Betta, which means marked hill in the local language. During the British era, the mountain was used as the landmark to find directions to different places on the hill path. This trek provides an excellent opportunity to enjoy the stunning beauty of hills and mountains' landscape of the Brahmagiri Range. Be Extra Cautious During Monsoon Nishani Motte Trekking

Monsoon raises trekking difficulty level as the pathway is muddy and filled with leeches that pose difficulty in climbing. Additionally, the trail is steep, almost vertical towards the end, which raises the difficulty level for reaching the crest. Coorg trekking is famous for parasites, and please wear leech socks to avoid bites.

The trail to Nishani Motte, being a lesser-known trail, starts in the Shola Forest range and green meadows. Climbers can follow the ridge walk to the summit to enjoy the spectacular view of the Brahmagiri range layers.
