Gurez Valley Tour - Explore Kashmir's Hidden Valley

A scenic valley in the North of India, Gurez is a hidden gem of Kashmir. Surrounded by lush green mountains, this valley offers breathtaking views and a chilly weather! The Gurez Valley is a little-known destination within Kashmir. It is the last vestige of wilderness in this region. Wild rivers and lakes, lush forests, deep gorges and rushing waterfalls make this valley a paradise for nature-lovers. The place has been untouched by modern civilization so far; at least until now!

 

Day One: Arrive at Srinagar and transfer to Pahalgam

Arrive at Srinagar Airport and meet our tour captain. We will drive to Pahalgam and see the cricket Bats factory on our way to Pahalgam. You can also shop for dry fruits, Saffron, Shilajit and dried Gucchi mushrooms selling at Rs 20000 per kilo, and the saffron fields of Pampore Kashmir are the only place in India where Saffron grows.

Arrive at Pahalgam, a famous hill station in Kashmir; many popular movies have been filmed at Pahalgam. It is also renowned for the Amarnath Cave Temple, a Hindu temple and the starting point for the annual Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage.

Brown bears and musk deer can be encountered at the Overa Aru Wildlife Sanctuary. The Lidder River flows through the Betaab Valley towards the northeast. Tulian Lake, in the southeast, is surrounded by high peaks and is frequently frozen.

Some famous hikes that start from Pahalgam are Tarsar Marsar Lakes Trek, Kolahoi Glacier Trek, Pahalgam to Sonamarg treks and many more small day hikes.

 

Day Two: Explore Aru Valley and Betaab Valley. Stay at Pahalgam

Aru Valley: 12 kilometres from Pahalgam. The drive through the mountains is breathtaking; dense, tall Pine trees on mountains with snowcovered peaks.

The beautiful Lidder river flows and divides the road, mountains, and small cottages dotted along the path. Upper Aru Meadow, you can take pictures along the river, ride a pony, dress up as a local Kashmiri and more.

The beautiful meadows, Alpine lakes, hiking destinations and mountains attract visitors, and it also serves as a base camp for treks to the Kolahoi Glacier and Tarsar Lake Trek.

In winter, Aru Valley is a popular tourist destination in Kashmir, not only because of the stunning vistas but also because of the numerous activities available. When it snows in the winter, it becomes a popular location for skiing and heli-skiing.

Betaab Valley: Known as Hajan Valley or Hagan Valley, it is located 15 kilometres from Pahalgam Kashmir's Anantnag district. Betaab, a blockbuster first film starring Sunny Deol and Amrita Singh, gave the Valley its name.

We will be staying overnight at Pahalgam.

 

Day Three: Aharbal falls, transfer to Srinagar, night stay at Srinagar

Good morning day three of your dream Kashmir Gurez Valley tour. Today we will travel to the beautiful waterfall and Srinagar.

Aharbal Waterfalls: The waterfall at Aharbal is well-known, and Aharbal is a tiny hill station in the Kulgam district near Anantnag. The famed Aharbal Waterfall is often known as "The Niagara of Kashmir" due to the tremendous volume of water that cascades down.

The ride is both gorgeous and startling; the roads are narrow. Falls are a must-see attraction that is both gorgeous and worth the trip. Many individuals may terrify you with stories, but don't be alarmed; it is safe to visit.

After visiting the waterfall, we will head to the Srinagar hotel. We will visit the relaxed Winterfell cafe at Dal Lake and later for a relaxing Shikara ride.

 

 

Day Four: Drive to Gurez Valley via Razdan Pass and Kishanganga River. We will stay for the night at Dawar Village at Gurez.

Gurez Valley, or Gurais, is a valley in the high Himalayas located in northern Kashmir and southern Gilgit-Baltistan, about 86 kilometres from Bandipore and 123 kilometres from Srinagar. Snow-capped mountains flank the Valley. The Gurez Valley is famous for Habba Khatoon mountains, Springs, the high passes and the beautiful Kishenganga River's turquoise waters.

Gurez valley will soon become one of Kashmir's most popular Himalayan tourist spots.

Razdan Pass, also known as Razdan Top, is a high mountain pass in Bandipora rising to 3,557 metres or 11,672 feet above sea level. Razdan also demarcates the two areas as distinct physical and sociocultural environments. It has one of the world's most dangerous highways.

Did you know Drass Kargil is just 25 kilometres from Gurez Valley via a route called Kabul Gali. This route is not available to tourists yet due to security reasons.

Stay for the night will be at Dawar Village Gurez.

 

Day Five: We will explore Habba Khatoon and Habba Khatoon springs and visit the Khandiyal viewpoint.

Gurez is most famous for the Habba Khatoon Peak. This pyramid-shaped peak is not just a mountain but also a significant historical figure in Kashmir.

The mountain named after the legendary Kashmiri poetess Habba Khatoon, and if you visit this lovely area, you will hear about and remember her. Habba Khatoon, the Nightingale of Kashmir, was a Kashmiri poet and ascetic who lived from 1554 until 1609.

Habba Khatoon Spring Achoora Gurez has many beautiful stories, from the chilled water glass that one person cannot finish to the origins of the spring, a must-visit place in Gurez valley.

Khandiyal Top is another viewpoint that offers a panoramic view of the Gurez Valley.

 

Day 6 - Day Travel to Tulail Valley

The Tulail Valley is a Himalayan sub-valley of Gurez located 120 kilometres northeast of Bandipora. The Gurez Valley is directly east of the Tulail Valley.

The route from Gurez to Tulail runs through picturesque Kishanganga River scenery. You will pass via the villages of Barnai, Chakwali, Kashpat, and Zargai on your way to the Purani Tulail Village. In the summer, the virgin valley blooms and is excellent for picture sessions. The ever-alluring beauty of this Valley is enhanced by the dance of foggy clouds over the green mountains, floral fields, and unfettered horizon.

 

Day Seven - Drive to Srinagar and Nigeen Lake Stay

We will bid goodbye to Gurez valley today and start our journey toward Nigeen Lake Srinagar. Enjoy a beautiful evening at the serene Nigeen lake boathouse.

 

Day Eight: Last day of the Gurez Valley Tour, transfer to Srinagar airport and Fly back to your home city.
