Overview/Itinerary

The Forsyth Trek in Satpura Tiger Reserve is one of India’s most extraordinary wilderness experiences—an immersive walking safari through the core and buffer zones of a tiger reserve. Starting from Pachmarhi, the gateway to Satpura, this legendary trail offers a rare opportunity to explore dense forests, river valleys, hidden waterfalls, and untouched jungle landscapes on foot. Spread over 2 nights and 3 days, the Forsyth Trek covers approximately 27 km of pristine forest trails, making it ideal for beginners, explorers, and nature lovers seeking a true offbeat adventure.

Unlike traditional safaris, the Satpura Forsyth Trek allows you to walk silently through tiger country under the guidance of expert naturalists and forest guards, experiencing the jungle the way early explorers once did. From overnight camping on the banks of the Denwa River and stargazing under crystal-clear skies to rare wildlife sightings such as hornbills, civets, and the world’s smallest wild cat, this trek is a perfect blend of adventure, conservation, and raw wilderness. If you’re searching for the best walking safari in India, the Forsyth Trek in Satpura is an experience unlike any other.

Break for lunch by the scenic Kanjighat River, where the calm waters and jungle surroundings offer a true walking safari experience. Continue trekking to reach the Dehaliya riverside campsite, nestled deep inside the Satpura Tiger Reserve and equipped with eco-friendly bio-toilets.

As evening sets in, enjoy a bonfire dinner, accompanied by tribal folklore and storytelling, followed by a guided stargazing session under pristine night skies.

After lunch near the Sangam waterfall, unwind in the natural pools of the Denwa River before beginning the trek back to basecamp. Conclude the journey with a jeep safari-style exit through the Satpura buffer zone, offering a final glimpse of the wilderness.
