Chanderi fort is situated near Vangani (Kalyan) was used as a base for the army. What remain is a few water tanks and a new Shivaji statue installed recently. A 360 degree view from the top is awesome. You can see Karnala fort, Prabalgad, Irshalgad, Manikgad, Peb, etc from the summit.
There is no significant history attached to this fort. This is the only sign to designate Chanderi as a fort.

Lohagad – “Iron fort” is one of the many hill forts of Chatrapati Shivaji. It divides the basins of the Indrayani and Pavna and is situated on a side range of the Sahyadris. The Visapur fort is located on its eastern side. The four large gates of Lohagad are still in good condition and reasonably intact. Historical records show that in the later Peshwa period, Nana Phadnavis (1742-1800 AD) built several structures in the fort

The journey starts with the Indrayani express. People interested should board this train.

Karnala fort is a hill fort in Raigad district about 13 km from Panvel. Located in within the Karnala Bird Sanctuary. It was a fort of strategic importance. Redeemed with the power struggle of many rulers, Karnala Fort stands as a specimen of the 13th century constructions. The fort was sparingly used by the Karnala rulers including Angres, Mudhan and Peshwas until 1818, by which time British rulers have taken over the grand old fort under their control.

Rajgad is huge vast fort. Rajgad means King of all forts. Located south-west 40 Kms from Pune. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj spent a great deal of his time on this fort close to 25 years. Rajgad is famous for its construction layout. The fort can be divided into four different parts based on geographical terrain and fortification. There are the three sub-plateaux (Machee) namely Padmavati Machee, Suvela Machee and Sanjevani Machee, and at the centre is the Ballekilla.
