Andharban forest

Andharban, by its name means a dark dense forest. It is a gradual descend trek, where you are already on height and you will descend till end. It is one of the most beautiful trek and lots of things to explore. We will be walking on a ridge offering an awesome view of the Kundalika Valley, Bhira dam and the mountain ranges of Tamhini ghat. Evergreen forest covers you with shade in the first half of the trek (6-8 kms). The trek further descends down in Konkan to reach Bhira (4 kms). The same valley where is the origin of the Kundalika river famous for its white water river rafting.

About Kalsubai Monsoon Trek

Kalsubai with the height of 1646m [5400Feets] is famous as one of the highest peaks in Maharashtra. Kalsubai lies in the Sahyadri mountain range. This being the highest peak, it commands a beautiful view. Since Kalsubai is extremely famous, enough effort has been made to make this trek easy. There are steel railings, chains and ladders at places where it is difficult to climb.

About Amboli Ghat

Amboli ghat is a hill station situated in sindhudurg district of Maharashtra, it’s a hot-spot for brimming wildlife such as reptiles, amphibians and many other macro subjects.

Wide variety of amphibians include amboli bush frog, Malabar gliding frog, bicolored frog also reptiles such as green vine snake, beddomes keel back, Deccan banded gecko etc can be found in amboli ghat.

Join us to explore this amazing wilderness and experience macro photography on the field, these trails will include walking through cold mountain water streams, heavy rain, thick fog cover etc. Thrilling as it might be, there might be various challenges to photograph these macro subjects.

Amboli Ghat Nature Trail Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival at Sawantwadi station (at 12pm preferred train Tutari exp 11003) pick-up to Amboli ghat, Reach Amboli ghat and check in, evening trail at Mahadev ghad road, followed by dinner.

Day 2

Breakfast and visit Amboli botanical garden to explore frogs, insects and other macro subject’s photography till lunch, after lunch rest. Night trail towards Chaukul village accompanied by local expert.

Day 3

Breakfast and morning local trail, leave towards Sawantwadi railway station. (drop at 4pm, Tutari exp 11004).

ABOUT US

We (Uttara and I) have been sourcing, designing and exporting furniture for nearly twenty years now. What started off as a travel-bug & hobby soon turned into a full-fledged exports business for us.  I would get into a truck (with no real destination in mind) and just scrounge ancient waadas, & havelis for artefacts. I'd fill up the truck and come home to a not-so-happy wife! When we ran out of storage space (which didn't take long), I started upcycling this reclaimed teak wood.

Where people saw discarded old pieces of junk, I saw potential. These were century-old relics which needed just a little bit of care. I treated the wood and polished it, and everyone was amazed at the results.

Over the years, apart from having tons of loyalists in India, I've also exported to different parts of Europe and America.

FAQ

1. What does the cost include?

The cost includes your stay at Utopia Farmstay for two nights, all your meals on Saturday, Breakfast & Lunch on Sunday and Dinner on Friday. It also includes the cost of material, tools and the teak takeaways (Worth roughly INR 1,500) that you will create in the workshop. Taxes are included as well.

2. How many participants will be present?

We would need 6 participants minimum to conduct this workshop. In the unfortunate circumstances that we do not have 6 participants, the full amount will be refunded. At the moment, we're restricting the workshop to 10 participants only.

3. Why is there a choice of item to make on day two?

We have no way of understanding your skills till you are at the workshop. Depending on your speed and ability to make things, you can take home anything between 3-5 items.

4. Can children participate?

All participating children must be accompanied by a participating adult. The cost of a single participating parent is INR 12,500. Unfortunately, we cannot take children without their participating parents in the workshop.

5. What do I need to bring?

Absolutely nothing. Just a willingness to learn, meet new people and enjoy yourself!

6. What if I'm coming with someone, but only I want to participate?

Here are the costings:

1 participating adult in single sharing room - INR 17,500

2 participating adults in double sharing room - INR 25,000

3 participating adults in a triple sharing room - INR 30,000

1 participating adult + 1 non-participating adult in double sharing room- INR 21,500

1 participating adult + 2 non-participating adults in a triple sharing room - INR 27,500
